The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce
The goal of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce is to foster a strong economic environment for Weyburn and the surrounding area so that the businesses can, in turn, provide the best possible services to the residents of Weyburn and area.

The Chamber of Commerce is not a department of any government, and it is not a charitable organization. Its function is to unite the efforts of business and professionals to ensure a strong economic and socio-economic climate. It can harness the tremendous potential of the private enterprise system and its membership to accomplish collectively what no one person or business could accomplish individually.

The Chamber of Commerce is People! There is a place in the Chamber for all members to get involved and accomplish collectively what no one of them could do alone, and thereby creating a pool of resources from which to draw ideas, energies, and finance.

Group Health
All members of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce are eligible to participate in the Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan. This plan is designed with small businesses in mind, and is available to organizations with as few as one employee.

Merchant Fees
All Members of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce are eligible for reduce rates on Visa, MasterCard, and Interac transactions. This is a nation program administered by First Data international. Rates for members can be as low as:

  • Visa – 1.75%
  • MasterCard – 1.89%
  • Interac - $0.10 per transaction

Seminars
The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce is always looking for ways to help our members do better business. We seek out presenters who can offer our Members information that makes sense, and can improve the bottom line, and efficiency of our businesses. The
Chamber does not charge our members to attend any of these events. All of our seminars are efficient and to the point, because we all have very little time for long drawn out sessions.
Some recent presenters we have brought to speak to our membership, and why:

  • Labour Standards – To ensure that we know our rights and responsibilities.
  • Workers Compensation Board – To help our members stay on top of legislation, and ensure that we know our rights.
  • City Police Service – To tell our membership about what they are seeing as far as security systems. What is, and what is not working.

The Chamber is in constant contact with our members to determine what information they are looking for.

Member Breakfasts
The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce holds regular breakfasts for our Members which serve two purposes:

  1. Information. We have brief presentations at these breakfasts. Presenters are of interest to Chamber Members.
  2. Networking. Member breakfasts are great business to business networking opportunities. Chamber members do business with Chamber members.

Representation
The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce is the united voice of business, and as such, is a strong voice in government. We have open lines of communication with all three levels of government (Civic, Provincial, and National). The Chamber can lobby government with a voice much stronger than that of any one individual or business.

Special Events
The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce provides our community with many events throughout the year which exemplify the excellence of our community. Just a few of these events are:

  • The Presidents Dinner. This is the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce’s Annual General Meeting, and is a venue for our membership to connect even more with their chamber. It includes the election and appointment of officers, annual reports, and is when the Golden Spike Award is presented.
  • The Weyburn Parade. Each year to kick off the Weyburn Fair, the Chamber of Commerce organizes our Parade. This is an opportunity to show off why Weyburn is so great. With over 100 floats, and thousands of viewers on the streets, this parade is one of the greatest.
  • The Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament. Each year the Chamber hosts a golf tournament for its members, which is another excellent networking opportunity.
  • Farmer Appreciation Night. This evening is an opportunity for urban and rural to connect, and for us to acknowledge the contributions of the agriculture industry to our economy. It is also when we present the Golden Sheaf Award.
  • WEYBEX. A celebration of Business Excellence in Weyburn. The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce takes this opportunity to acknowledge the best of the best in our membership. Many WEYBEX winners go on to be provincial ABEX winners.
  • All Candidates Forums. Before any election (Civic, Provincial, or Federal), the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce hosts an all candidates forum. During this evening we invite all candidates in the election to participate in a question and answer period.
  • The Parade of Lights. The first Thursday of every December, The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce helps our community kick-off the holiday season with the Parade of Light. Held in the evening, this parade features dozens of lighted parade floats touring the City of Weyburn. It is truly a sight to be seen.
